What is the Purple Star School Program?
The Purple Star School Program began in Ohio in 2016 to help military families as they relocated from base to base. Purple Star Schools are attentive to military students transitionins to a new school especially a move during the school year. Purple Star Schools have trained staff that can help students deal with frequent moves and parent separations due to military deployments. The Purple Star School Program has spread since 2016 to ten states: Ohio, Virginia, Indiana, North Carolina, Texas, North Dakota, Tennessee, South Carolina, and Arkansas. Now New Mexico and Alamogordo Public Schools are pleased to join them.

Three Alamogordo Public Schools have been designated Purple Star Schools: Alamogordo High School, Holloman Elementary School, and Holloman Middle School.
